San Jose, Calif. Avago Technologies has released the AEDT-9140 series of three-channel, high temperature optical incremental encoder modules for use in industrial and factory automation equipment. Available in a variety of counts per revolution (CPR) and shaft diameter options, the encoder modules are designed to reduce overall motor sizes and to fit easily into a circular housed encoder or directly onto industrial motors to provide advanced motion control detection.
The AEDT-9140 encoder modules include a lensed LED source and a detector IC enclosed in a small plastic package. When used with a codewheel, the low-cost module series detects rotary position. Due to a highly collimated light source and a unique photodetector array, the AEDT-9140 modules are extremely tolerant to mounting misalignment. Typical industrial automation applications include industrial printers, plotters, tape drives, machine tools and industrial and factory automation equipment.
The AEDT-9140 modules, which operate from a single 5-V supply, offer two channel quadrature outputs plus a third channel index output. They are designed for use with a codewheel that has an optical radius of 11 mm (0.433 inch) for 100 to 512 CPR and 11.68 mm (0.460 inch) for 1,000 CPR. The index output is a 90 electrical degree high true index pulse that is generated once for each full rotation of the codewheel. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 115°C. The devices are RoHS compliant.
Pricing: $18.50 in quantities of 1,000.
Availability: Samples and production quantities are available now.
