Amsterdam, NetherlandsContinuing to drive the adoption of 3Gbits/s video transport products, Gennum Corp. has broken the 100-meter barrier with its latest adaptive cable equalizer.
The GS2974B multi-rate equalizer achieves 120 meters for 3-Gbits/s transmission, enabling broadcast equipment manufacturers to meet longer cable specifications. Gennum's GS2974B equalizer provides support for SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) 424M, SMPTE 292M and SMPTE 259M.
In addition, the multi-rate GS2974B extends the cable length for HD-SDI at 1.485-Gbits/s to 160 meters. Gennum attributes both cable length extensions to patent-pending changes to the key blocks within the equalizer.
Availability: Sampling now in a 16-pin QFN package; production is expected in the fourth quarter of 2007.
