Meet The Editor

The Industrial Control DesignLine site is managed by Editor Richard Pell.

A love of music and a fascination in its electronic reproduction sidetracked Rich early on from a planned career in TV/Radio communications into engineering. After receiving BS degrees in both Public Communications and Electrical Engineering, Rich worked for several years as a design engineer working on analog/mixed-signal circuits at a major aerospace/defense company.

Rich later left to pursue another interest - the stock market - and spent some time trading options and futures on Wall Street before eventually returning to writing (and electronics) in 1990 to work as an editor at Electronic Products Magazine. Most recently Rich served as Editor in Chief of that publication.

During all this time, audio (and music) has remained an ongoing interest. Over the years Rich has designed and/or built a variety of amplifiers, speakers, DACs and other audio-related equipment, and even participated as a beta tester for one of Walt Jung's famous (among audio DIYers) POOGE modifications that was later published in Audio Amateur Magazine (now AudioXpress).
